The Opportunity
Support the BMA Engineering leadership team to build stronger self-awareness, team effectiveness and sustainable high performance through a period of significant change and increasing complexity.

The Challenge

Beyond the formal brief, BMA's Engineering leadership team was newly formed and navigating real uncertainty. A group of leaders with deep individual expertise needed to become a genuinely connected team, and the usual tools, leadership routines, planning sessions, regular check-ins, had already created alignment on priorities but not the deeper understanding of how each person actually worked.
“We had an incredibly diverse group of leaders with deep expertise, but we needed to build stronger connections, trust and a shared understanding of how we work together.”

The Approach

What stood out to the team was that this was never a generic leadership program. Thriving Minds invested time understanding BMA's context and the specific challenges the team was navigating, then tailored individual strengths assessments and facilitated workshops around it, giving the team a common language for understanding themselves and each other. The work stayed practical and immediately applicable rather than theoretical, and the facilitation created a space where people felt safe being open, authentic and constructively challenged.
“The strengths assessments gave us a common language to understand ourselves and each other, while the facilitation created an environment where people felt comfortable being open, authentic and challenged in a constructive way.”

The Results & Impact

The clearest measure of impact is that the relationship didn't end with the original workshop. It has expanded organically into one-on-one leadership coaching, Teaming for Success sessions, and Accelerating Team Performance work, driven by continued demand from across the leadership team. Day to day, leaders now bring a stronger understanding of each other's strengths into their conversations, collaborate more openly across a genuinely diverse team, and still use the common language the strengths work gave them.
“For me, it created greater self-awareness and helped me be more intentional about how I lead and how I leverage the strengths of others. We work together more openly and operate much more as one leadership team rather than a collection of individual leaders.”
Advice for anyone wishing to work with Thriving Minds
Go into it with an open mind and be prepared to learn something new about yourself and your team. If your goal is to build stronger leaders, improve team effectiveness and create a more connected, high-performing culture, I'd highly recommend working with them.
